Top Inorganic Part II Thesis

It is finally official and the certiciate has been handed over! Elisabeth was awarded the Inorganic Thesis Prize for outstanding Part II performance in the Inorganic Section. Congratulations!

The official awards ceremony took place on the 29th of October in the Inorganic Lecture Theatre, where undergraduate prizes across all years of the undergraduate degree were presented by Dr Martin Galpin, Associate Head of Department (Teaching) and Director of Studies in the department. Elisabeth was first in line to be awarded her prize. This was followed by a drinks reception in the atrium of the Chemistry Research Laboratory.

Elisabeth spent her Part II year in the group working on various complex aspects of the photoelectron spectra of gallium oxide. Her thesis incorporated three substantial results chapters and she took part in a number of synchrotron experiments. All three chapters are currently being worked into paper drafts, so do keep an eye out for some juicy results soon. We are also delighted that she has chosen to continue her research in our group, having started a DPhil in Chemistry, co-supervised by Prof Simon Clarke.
